Show me your tips!
I discovered that apparently it is possible for those little internal flapper things in your exhaust tips to disappear. I found one missing after our last run, so I assume I made a donation to Mother Ocean with my flapper. Not wanting to risk water ingestion, I ordered up a new tip last week and proceeded to install this week. You can purchase just the flapper, but I ordered the entire tip, so I can send the one with the missing tip in for a refit and refurb. I figured that would give me a float tip for when I lose the next flapper!
Here is what it is supposed to look like, then finding the missing flapper to the install of the new shiny tip. Enjoy.

Re: Show me your tips!
I lost a flapper inside one of my Y-pipes. Got lucky and found it at the bottom of the "Y". Had to fish it out with some mechanical fingers and a remote camera. Discovered the rubber exh pipe coupler is supposed to cover the pivot rod so it can't slid out. I had just re-installed everything and didn't have the rubber coupled slid far enough onto the top of the Y-pipe. The pivot pin had migrated out one side far enough for the flapper to fall off but was still hanging on one side. Discover all this when I was leak checking and found water shooting out the hole where one side of the pin is supposed to be.
Not sure if all flappers are designed like that but it's definitely something I'll be double checking next time I have to remove any exh piping.
Mine has straight cut tips. Not as cool as the angle cut, but does allow for a secondary rubber flapper to be installed.
Glad to hear you found it before it took a big swig of seawater.

Well, that's what I found last weekend when I winterized my boat. I am missing both flappers.
Just ordered same as yours yesterday....

Re: Show me your tips!
I ordered some of these replacements to put on my ready shelf if I start losing the other flappers. Looks like you still have to remove the tips to install, but subsequent flapper replacements can be done with out pulling the tips off, which I think is a huge PITA.

Re: Show me your tips!
I realize this is an old thread but I thought I'd add what I am doing in the flapper dept. Maybe it will help someone down the road.
I took a 3" piece of exhaust pipe marked and drilled holes for the pin. Mounted the flapper and put a little tack weld on each side of the pin. It's in its own section of exhaust pipe. With some soapy water will slide inside the exhaust hose. So it can be positioned where I need it. This way if I have/want to replace a tip/s I can save myself some money by getting the tips without flappers. Or if the flapper needs replacement I don't have to buy a new tip just the flapper. Or run double flappers for that extra piece of insurance.
Tech guys at Hardin said the flapper pin is designed to be welded in place. That's why the pins that arnt welded in place are subject to falling out as described above.
