Lake Travis - Cow Creek

Post by Captain YARRR » Mon Jun 08, 2015 3:30 pm

Hey guys,

Now that the lake is full again I'd love to check out Cow Creek. Has anyone been yet since the level jumped? Anyone know if it is full of trees waiting to eat props and outdrives?

I've driven over the Perdernales a few times and although its full, there are green icebergs everywhere. I'd imagine cow creek is the same. Should be safe to explore at idle though at least before the bend

Yeah I saw that too, so that's what I was thinking. It's sad to say but I think before exploring more remote spots, I think I'm going to have to wait for unsuspecting boaters to chop up the tops of whatever trees are below the surface.

I'd love to go back there but I love my drives more.

It looks totally different now. The big rock wall is gone. Tons of trash in there. Would not recommend going back there. Had me nervous, but escaped with no issue

That's before and after. I went in a bit further and there are trees sticking up in the middle of the water. So I didn't go any more. Turned around and got outta there.

Also. It was a nice night for a cruise.

Haha yes...I was thinking of the other rock wall behind the next bend. That thing is enormous. But apparently it is home to a tree farm now.

Made it on here finally, boys!

As you may remember....I sold Stimulus Package and bought six acres frontage on Cow Creek and 1431. Great views of the party spot on Cow Creek (past the main Cow Creek bowl). It is good to have water, but THe Captain is correct, a little further down there are trees that have been growing for five years. I was hoping the Memorial Day floods would take them all out, but some are still standing. Some views from my place at 662:
